Arnold's Lighting & Electrical

For this project we created:

Logo / Brand Identity / Signage / Digital / Print

Established in 1808, Arnold’s Lighting and Electrical are one of Newport’s oldest retailers stocking a huge range of traditional and contemporary lighting. They pride themselves on their knowledge, experience and being a family-run company, with generations of customers returning year-on-year.

Opting to continue their face-to-face shopping experience, rather than taking their products to the internet, they wanted to modernise their image, without losing the traditional feel that locals have come to know and love. Our aim was to ensure the brand remained true to Arnold’s heritage whilst also appealing to a new generation of shoppers. We drew on inspiration from classic hardware store signage with reference to electrical components included in the logo. We purposely wanted copper to appear within the fresh colour palette, being the first material to be used for electrical cabling after Arnold’s first opened it’s doors, specialising in ironmongery.

We felt it was essential to shout about Arnold’s history and the fact that they have been an independent, family-run business for over 200 years and so created a slogan to use within their brand. ‘Lighting up Newport’s homes since 1808’ which is used across the marketing material and shop window.

The new brand we created rolled out across printed marketing materials, signage and digital, meaning that everything customer-facing is recognisable as a professional, experienced business looking forward to the next 200 years on Newport’s high street.

I cannot recommend Parade Design highly enough! Claire and Lauren have been extremely patient and understanding of my wishes throughout the whole rebranding process of Arnold’s. They provide a very personal yet professional service and I’m glad to work with them. Thank you!
